Barcel Suzuki String Academy Activities
Consistent with the Suzuki philosophy, both individual and group experiences provide motivation and a nuturing environment essential to the development of the Suzuki student.
Instruction
- Private Lessons
These carefully guided weekly lessons provide the student and parent with the tools to help home practice. With the parent, teacher and student working together, technical and musical progress is a natural response.
- Group Lessons
These classes, offered weekly, are designed to motivate students, reinforce the individual lesson and provide a guided opportunity for review, repetition and musical growth.
- Barcel Brioso
Barcel Brioso is a diverse and exceptional group of talented violinists. Since the group's beginnings in 1996, the students have matured musically while enjoying a special camaraderie available only in the group setting.
Activities for Barcel Brioso include regional performance tours, participation in the BSSA Festival Concert, performances for private functions and community outreach.
- BSSA Adult Group
This wonderful group provides an opportunity for adult students to experience the joy and friendship of ensemble playing. This group is open to beginning adults and experienced players. Please see a BSSA faculty member for more information.
Performances
- Group Performances
These performances include conventions, small parties, and community outreach such as nursing homes, shopping malls and other community events.
- Solo/Ensemble Recitals
Three solo and/or ensemble recitals are offered each year. This gives each student the opportunity to perform polished repertoire and express himself/herself musically.
- Graduation Recital
This annual event gives students incentive for polish and review of literature and allows a means of recognition for students who have achieved certain musical goals.
- Festival Concert
This all-academy concert is offered biannually. It encourages a wonderful sense of community and musical growth.
Supplemental Activities/Classes
- Winter Wonderland Workshop
This event is held biannually. It acquaints students and parents with different teachers, teaching styles and ideas while being extremely motivational both musically and personally.
- Beginning Parent Class
The Suzuki Philosophy begins with the education of the parent. This session-long class provides a concentrated time for the parents to understand and implement the Suzuki philosophy while forming a supportive community with other beginning parents.
